I joined the leadership and members of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, at Ho Kodzi for the official opening of the Church’s 12th General Assembly, held on the theme: “Cleanliness is Next to Godliness; Keep Clean.”

I had the honour of serving as the Special Guest of Honour, representing the President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, and in my capacity as the Volta Regional Minister.

In my address, I commended the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, for its longstanding contribution to national development and, particularly, its partnership with government in key sectors such as education, healthcare, social development and community welfare.

I also highlighted some of the numerous development projects we have completed and those currently underway across the Volta Region, as part of our commitment to improving the lives of our people across all 18 Municipalities and Districts.

I urged the Church to continue to partner with government in the provision of critical social amenities and in promoting initiatives that advance the well being of our communities. Government alone cannot meet every development need; meaningful progress requires strong partnerships with faith-based organisations, traditional authorities, civil society and other stakeholders.

In support of the Church’s work and activities, I made a donation of GHS 20,000.00 to the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana on behalf of His Excellency the President.

The theme of this year’s General Assembly is particularly timely. Clean communities are essential to healthy communities, and maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility. As a region, we must continue to promote cleanliness, discipline and responsible environmental practices.

I wish the leadership and members of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, a successful 12th General Assembly and commend them for their continued service to God, humanity and the development of our region.
