Department of Gender Undertakes Media Advocacy
The Department has been in constant collaboration with the media and was featured in some news graphics as well as online websites to advocate and educate the public on SGBV and the law, teenage pregnancy, responsible parenting, child marriage and some women issues at the workplace such as unequal pay for equal responsibility, paid maternity leaves and job security after childbirth.
Other issues included human rights violations, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Convention 190 and the Labour Act of Ghana. Media houses include Volta Star Radio, Kingdom FM, Ho FM, Dela Radio (Central Tongu), Ghana News Agency, Ghanaian Times, Ghana Web, GBC Ghana Online, Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies (FAAPA), Daily Graphic, Citi News, Chronicles, Tosh TV and GTV on the Girlz Girlz power talk show.
The Department had virtual meetings via zoom with Mental Health Ghana, PPAG, and Community Improvement Initiative.
