On Friday 24th February, 2022, the Department of Gender Volta Region as part of activities to mark this years’ International Women’s Day held an advocacy meeting with the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. Archibald Yao Letsa to discuss the event and also solicit his support to address key issues confronting women and girls in the Region. The visit was to inform him on plans put in place for the commemoration of the International Women’s Day celebration which comes off on 8th March, 2022.

Issues discussed include: Women participation in local governance in the Region which is currently below 5%, Violence against women in the Region, Development of the girl child and, Activities lined up for the Region to mark the 2022 International Women’s Day.

The Hon. Minister pledge his commitment and support to #BreakTheBias against women and girls in the Region.

In attendance were the Mrs. Thywill Eyra Kpe Regional Director of Department of Gender and two of her supporting staff in the persons of Mr. Evans Datsomor and Miss. Esther Hammond.
