The Department of Gender, Volta Region, in conjunction with the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC), with funding support from UNFPA organized its third quarter stakeholders meeting on the Provision of Minimum Essential Service Package (MESP) for Survivors of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in the Volta Region.

The meeting took place on Thursday, 22nd September, 2022 in Ho. The Acting Regional Coordinating Director, Mr. Augustus Kwaku Awity chaired the meeting.

In his welcome remarks, he reiterated the purpose of the meeting which was to review the performance of various sectors in the provision of essential services to victims of SGBV in the Region. He called on all stakeholders to participate fully in deliberations for a successful meeting.

There were presentations from various stakeholder institutions including Ghana Health Service (GHS), and Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service (DOVVSU) on activities, challenges and way forward.

Present at the meeting were the Regional Director for Department of Gender, Mrs. Thywill Eyra Kpe, who serves as the secretary to the Stakeholder Meetings; the UNFPA Focal Person at the VRCC, Madam Victoria Fato and  Representatives from other Stakeholder Institutions such as Department of Social Welfare, Ghana Health Service, DOVVSU, the Judicial Service, Ghana Journalists Association, Ghana Education Service, International Needs Ghana, National Youth Authority (NYA), Department of Children, Queen Mothers Association, and Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).
