On Thursday, 4th August 2022, the Department of Gender with support from the UNFPA engaged leaders and members of Artisanal Groups at Adidome in the Central Tongu District.

The engagement was a follow-up to the training of 40 leaders of Artisanal Groups and Heads of Vocational and Technical Institutions in June, 2022.

Participants were sensitised on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), Child Marriage and Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH).

The various groups present for the engagement were Ghana Hairdressers and Beauticians Association (GHABA), Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA), Carpenters Association, Garments, Barbers, National Association of Beauticians and Hairdressers (NABH), and Soya Processors.

Among the dignitaries present were Mrs. Thywill Eyra Kpe, Regional Director of Department of Gender; Ms. Victoria Fato, UNFPA Focal Person at the VRCC; Ms. Lokpo Magdalene, and Ms. Agnes Nyarko both from Ghana Health Service; Mr. Saliu Gabrielle, Chairperson for GNTDA; Madam Evelyn Agbese, Head of GLOWDEP; Madam Regina Ayisi, Representative of South Tongu District Assembly; and Madam Charity Boko, Gender Desk Officer at the District Assembly.

In all, the programme engaged 153 participants, comprising 144 artisans and their leaders, and 9 dignitaries and facilitators.
