Department Of Gender Embarks On A Social Media Campaign Towards International Women’s Day 2022
As part of activities to commemorate the 2022 International Women’s Day, the Department of Gender embarked on a social media campaign which sought to drive home the need for gender equality and to receive solidarity messages from heads of institutions as well as their contributions towards ensuring that women and girls are treated equally devoid of any form of discrimination. This year’s social media campaign came with a global hashtag which is to “#BreakTheBias” The campaign started on the 1st March to 8th March, 2022 and saw a lot of short messages from the Regional Minister Hon. Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa and other heads of institutions. Some of these institutions include Department of Children, Ghana Education Service, Department of Social Welfare, Department of Agriculture, Lands Commission, Ghana Enterprise Agency, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Immigration Service, University of Health and Allied Sciences, office of the Regional Chief Imam, Moderator of the E.P. Church, Christian Council, Peace Council, NCCE, Volta Regional GNAT Ladies, Volta Regional House of Queen Mothers among others.
The campaign served as a build up to major activities planned by the Department of Gender towards the celebration of the International Women’s Day.
