On the 14th of June 2022, the Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with Kaeme Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), organized a One-day Workshop for Seventeen (17) Officers drawn from the Regional Office, and  Seven Municipalities as well as Districts, namely Ho Municipality, Hohoe Municipality, Kpando Municipality, Keta Municipality, Afadzato South District, Akatsi South Municipality, and Ketu South Municipality. The officers were selected based on the location of Residential Homes for Children in the Volta Region. 

The workshop which was held at the GNAT Hall in Ho aimed at strengthening the capacity of the officers in the identification and reunification of children who have overstayed in Residential Homes for Children.

The Regional Director of the Department of Social Welfare, Mrs. Stella Mawutor Agbezuhlor, together with the officer in charge of Residential Homes Management Unit at the National Office, Mrs. Abena Dufie Akonu-Atta facilitated the workshop.

Officers of the Department of Social welfare who took part and benefitted from the training expressed gratitude to the organizers for the opportunity to broaden their scope of knowledge and equip themselves with the skills needed to support children in need of care and protection.

Present at the workshop included the Acting Regional Coordinating Director, Mr. Prosper Afenyo and the Director of KAEME, Madam Helen Obeng Asamoah.
