The Keta Senior High Technical School, winners of the 2021 Primetime National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) Zonal Competition paid a courtesy call on Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, the Hon. Regional Minister at the office, Ho on Monday, June 07, 2021.

The Regional Director of Education, Madam Enyonam Afi Amafugah who led the school to pay the courtesy call stated that the school had emerged winners of the Zonal Competition made up of the Volta and Oti Regions and deemed it necessary to inform the Hon. Regional Minister about the feat as well as to present the trophy to him as the Minister of the Region.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Isaac Kofi Dzodzienyo expressed the appreciation of the school to the Hon. Regional Minister for his interest in the school’s development.

Mr. Dzodzienyo stated his vision of creating an enabling environment for students to study and perform well in the quiz.

He however, stated that lack of Wi-Fi for research, and a minivan to convey contestants and their coaches to participate in mini contests were among the challenges militating against the preparation of the school for the NSMQ.

Dr. Letsa was happy about the visit. Therefore, on behalf of the Co-ordinating Council and on his own behalf, he congratulated the school and its management on the feat. In particular, he was full of praise for the contestants, Miss Lamini Francisca, Master Senyo Bright Gadzo and Master Lutterodt James.

He also praised the NSMQ training team of the school for their commitment and dedication towards the preparation of the contestants.

Dr. Letsa entreated the school and the contestants to focus on the ultimate goal of winning the national contest.

He stated that the Co-ordinating Council and his good self would provide the necessary support for the school to make the Region proud. That notwithstanding, he stated the need for all citizens of the Region to come on board and support the school to prepare the contestants towards attaining victory for the Region.  He, thus, suggested that a fund be established for people to make donations towards the preparation of the students for the quiz. According to him, the fund would enable the school prepare the contestants adequately to win the national prize.

He concluded by expressing his optimism that the National Prize would be brought to the Region.
