The Regional office of Department of Community Development under the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council together with the Regional Environmental Health Unit participated in a radio programme on Volta Star Radio in Ho on Wednesday, March 09, 2022. The programme, which aired from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM focused on the topic of Food Poisoning. An elaborate discussion was held on the meaning, signs, symptoms, and prevention of Food Poisoning. During the programme, there was a phone-in session during which listeners from various communities including Ho, Hohoe, and Kpeve phoned and sought clarification as well as answers to issues boggling them on the topic under discussion as well as contributed to the discussion.

Officers from both Departments, namely Nana Apetorli Kwaku Mansu, Senior Social Development Officer; Festus Tagbodza, Regional CLTS Focal Person; and Edwin Bedzo, Assistant Radio Programmes Officer of the Regional Environmental Health Unit provided Expert Advice and information to listeners, emphasizing the importance of safe food handling practices and the dangers of consuming contaminated or unwholesome food. The officers also discussed the benefits of using organic and chemical-free farming methods to reduce the risk of food poisoning. The programme aimed at educating the public on the importance of food safety and to encourage positive behavioral changes in the handling and consumption of food.
