Chief Director Of The Ministry Of Foreign Affairs And Regional Integration And The Director Of Passport Pay Courtesy Call On The Volta Regional Minister
The Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ambassador Ramses Joseph Cleland; and the Director of Passport, Mr. Louis K. Obeng have paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa as part of their working visit to the region.
The Hon. Regional Minister welcomed Ambassador Cleland and his retinue to the Volta Region and acknowledged the close collaboration between the Co-ordinating Council and the Regional Passport Application Centre. He added that the Council would continue to work closely with the Regional Centre to strengthen the strong partnership that exists between both institutions.
For his part, Ambassador Cleland underscored that the Ministry was working to improve the infrastructure of passport application centres across Ghana in order to provide effective and efficient service delivery at the centres.
He also informed the Hon. Minister that generator sets had been procured and a team formed to install the generator sets at the various centres from July 2022 with the aim of ensuring continuity of work at the centres in case there is power outage from the national grid.
He mentioned that officers of the centres were being given continuous training in order that the application centres could serve their clients better. He added that the Ministry had received reports of decline in client service at the centres and that had formed the basis for the continuous training.
He lauded the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council and the Lands Commission for the instrumental role played in allocating a parcel of land for the construction of a new and spacious passport application centre, which would commence as soon as possible.
In response, the Hon. Regional Minister expressed the hope that the Ministry would release resources, as early as possible, for the construction of the new Regional Passport Offices and the Volta Region would be given topmost priority.
The Director of Passport, Mr. Louis K. Obeng expressed gratitude to the Hon. Regional Minister for the warm reception and hoped that the Co-ordinating Council would continue to assist the Regional Application Centre in order that Volta Region could enjoy the best service delivery at the centre.
In attendance were the Acting Regional Co-ordinating Director, Mr. Prosper K. Afenyo, the Human Resource Manager, Mr. Cyril Xatse and the Protocol Officer, Mr. Dimmie Yahuza.
